Will ‘we’ continue to exercise? The associations between group identification, identity leadership, and relational identification on group exercise class adherence

The present study sought to provide support for the roles of both social identity approach (group identification and leadership) relational in adherence group exercise classes. One hundred twenty U.K. based class attendees completed an online survey a cross-sectional design. Group identification, perceptions leadership behaviour, were not significantly associated with length attendance. However, behaviour instructor ingroup affect (measured as element multi-dimensional identification), expected likelihood continued participation. For every 1 unit increase in-group measures respectively, participants 1.9 2.0 times more likely be ‘at or near 100%’ continue vs not. Social variables how long exercisers had been attending class, but are positive influencers future adherence. Further research into regards attendance tenure volume is warranted benefit from use measures.
